Xanga, it has been good.
Well, the time has come.
I'm saying goodbye to Xanga and starting a new blog. I guess I will always follow in my sister's footsteps... : ) Maybe I will actually update this blog. My sister's blogging frenzy has inspired me to blog again, I guess I just needed a new site to get it jump started. For those of you who read my Xanga blog, specifically my life long friends and my Mom, here is the new address:

Please visit me at my new site and I will continue checking up on you all here at Xanga.

Don't Get Comfortable
By Brandon Heath
Let's make it last
see relatedWoooweee.
I am thankful for my dog who doesn't get mad at me when I don't take him on walks.
Long day at work today. Amidst the stress, I am thankful for the dose of sanity and encouragement from my fiance. He came into my office to say hello. I quickly wrapped my arms around him and whined. He ever so lovingly planted my face in his chest and prayed for me. Of course my brain was going a million miles a minute thinking about what I needed to get done and about the fact that maybe he should talk softer so someone wouldn't hear him...I'm pretty sure God heard his earnest words despite my lack of focus.
I am also thankful for my housemate and her boyfriend for feeding me dinner because they had extra. It was a much needed meal after eating nuts, cheese sticks, and yogurt I keep stored in my office.
And here I am getting ready to go to bed, boring as heck, and my dog is still not mad I didn't walk him or play with him when I got home.
I just need to keep reminding myself, "Slow down and enjoy the blessings."

So this one time I didn't blog...
...and this other time...and that one other time...
...and then there was this other time I GOT ENGAGED! (Well, Mike and I got engaged :) )
Yup yup. February 9th was the magical day. Ironic because I had a suuuper long day at work and hated the world. Mike had planned a date night for that evening which wasn't all that unusual so I was not expecting anything crazy LIKE A DIAMOND RING, HOLY MOLY. So yeah, we went to Saturday night church, chatted with our friends Anna and Bryan, and moved on with our evening.
Everything makes sense now that I look back on it. Mike was clean shaven that day after months of being lumberjack man with a furry beard and he was particulary anxious to get out of church. There were 3 phases of our date night. First, he took me to rent a movie. Second, we ordered food-to-go from our favorite burger place, Spanky's. He asked if we could add one more phase before going back to my house to eat and watch the movie. I said, "sure." I didn't want to break his spirit or tell him I was hungry and tired and wanted to go home. GOOD THING I WENT ALONG WITH THE PLAN!
So, Mike drove me to the park where we sat all night and talked before we officially started dating (May 26, 2007). This park has special meaning for us and we hadn't been there since that fateful night in May. LITTLE DID I KNOW HE HAD A RING BOX IN HIS POCKET. I really had no clue. The clue bus ran over me and then backed up over my face.
We sat on the slides and reminisced about the last time we were at this park. I'm thinking...this is sweet..but I'm cold, hungry, and tired....how long are we going to hang out here?
Then he said, "I just thought it would be nice to bring you back to where it all started...and to give you this."
(This = ring box)
"Will you marry me?" was the next question to which I replied "YES!!" ...After I recovered from the shock and pulled myself away from his neck to answer him...
I feel sooooo lucky. We're both really pumped about getting married!!!
hooray!!!

I love this man.
And I love going on dates with him. Last night we went to church and on the way to church we were trying to decide what we were going to do after. We wanted to do something fun because a year ago (February 3) we met. Mike's suggestion? Going to see 27 Dresses. I grinned and said yes immediately, because I had been wanting to see that movie. He's the best. Not only because he likes to do things knowing I will enjoy them but also because he enjoys them too. So after church we went to the movies. Great movie by the way. Very funny. And apparently not a bad pick for a date because it wasn't too chick-flicky for him.
Funny thing happened on our way out of the movie theater...a teenage boy coming in for a movie, about 18 yrs. old, held the door for both of us and called us "Sir" and "Ma'am." Have we really moved out of the young adult generation? It made me feel ancient. And I thought we were lookin' all trendy and hip...guess not. Or this boy was raised right and his Mom should get props. Either way it was kinda weird.
And to boot, Mike bought me a rose at King Soopers to end our date. I was a little confused when he pulled up to the grocery store because he hadn't mentioned needing to make a food run. He walked me around aisles aimlessly, but then we arrived at the flower section. He said, "Pick one." Pretty cool.
Alright, enough gushing.
Oh, p.s. Manda, Catherine Heigl reminded me soooo much of you in that movie. Maybe it was the color of her hair. I'm not totally sure what it was about her. Maybe the character she was playing...or her face. Something. Anyway, go see it, it's fun.

see relatedHello Xanga, long time no see.....
Life lately has consisted of lots of overtime at work and recovering from the overtime on my days off. Mike and I have the same days off which is nice. Our trend has been wandering around Target and renting movies from the red box thing in Safeway. It's a great way to recover.
The other day I finally caught THIS on camera.
My dog is co-razy.
In other news, I managed, by the grace of God to talk down a kid from attacking the security guards at the hospital today. At least I get paid to do this stuff, right?
